Thermo Aspen medium is created as a result of a modification under the influence of water vapor and particularly high temperatures. This technology changes the properties and color of the wood. During the thermal treatment, extracts evaporate from the wood, making it permanently less water-absorbent and particularly resistant to the influence of fungi and bacteria.
The alder/black alder (Alnus glutinosa) is a medium-sized deciduous tree from the alder genus and thus belongs to the birch family (Betulaceae). The black alder is widespread throughout Europe and belongs to the sapwood species, meaning that heartwood and sapwood are the same color. The wood is reddish-white, reddish-yellow to light reddish-brown in color. It darkens noticeably when exposed to light. One of the special advantages of alder wood is its uniformly fine, straight-grained structure with an apparently non-porous surface.
Like Aspen Thermo, Alder Thermo can be treated in various stages – from normal to medium to intense – to optimize the properties of the wood and create a darker brown shade.
Thermo Alder intense is given an even darker color by a longer
thermal treatment.
Due to its outstanding properties, this Wood types is an ideal alternative to tropical woods. Thermo ash is characterized by its striking dark colouring, which varies from deep brown to black. Thanks to the thermal treatment, the wood is particularly resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations, making it ideal for use in saunas and outdoor areas (treated). With its dark color palette and unique grain, it is a real asset to any design.
The common spruce (Picea abies) is a plant species in the spruce genus (Picea) and grows mainly in Scandinavia as well as in northern, central and eastern Europe. Due to the cool climate, the trees grow slowly and are fine-grained, homogeneous, firm and small-branched. Low-resin Nordic spruce has a uniform structure and is therefore a first-class raw material for many applications such as sauna and façade construction.
The wood of the red cedar exudes a pleasant fragrance, which comes from the high content of essential oils in the wood. At the same time, the wood does not deform due to increased humidity. Another advantage of red cedar wood is the beautiful grain without numerous knotholes. The wood has a yellow to reddish-brown tone and darkens considerably when exposed to sunlight, giving it a noble appearance even with age.
Radiata pine is a coniferous tree from the pine family. With no exposed knots, the wood does not give off resin, does not splinter and does not overheat, making it ideal for sauna benches. The natural pattern and darker color due to thermal modification creates a noble and luxurious look for interior and exterior cladding and sauna benches.
